Family & Friends,
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! Many of you are already familiar with my family's direct experience with pediatric cancer, but for those that don't know our story, in 2006, my daughter Julia was diagnosed at 2 years old with an aggressive type of brain cancer. The prognosis was not good - the doctors gave her a 10% chance to survive 6 months. Against those odds, we decided to fight and after two surgeries, 30 days of radiation and 53 weeks of intense chemotherapy, Julia's scans were stable. Thanks to an unbelieveable medical team and the grace of God, Julia and her sister Claire are happy 2nd graders today.
So in honor of my daughter and to raise awareness about this devastating disease, I am particitpaing in Mustaches for Kids - a fundraiser for CURE Childhood Cancer (www.curechildhoodcancer.org). Over the next month, I will be growing a mustache and competing for the best stache. Please vist www.atlantamustache.com and click 2011 Growers for pictures of my progress.
While growing a mustache (even one that is 100% organic) is a bit silly, children's battle with cancer is 100% serious. Cancer is the #1 cause of death for children yet very little research is conducted for the specialized treatments targeted to meet a child's need. Your donation will support pediatric cancer research.
What can you do to help? Please donate to help me hit my goal of $2,000.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Thanks
Tom, Carrie, Julia and Claire
