As many of you know, I have been running the Boston Marathon for the past 11 years with the goal of becoming the second female to complete 25 consecutive Bostons.   2010 marks to be my 12th completion bringing me almost half way to this personal goal.  

In the past I have done this race on my own but this year the opportunity presented to not only run for myself but to contribute to a greater good.  I was linked to Team Eye and Ear whose fundraising efforts support the Massachucettes Eye and Ear Infirmary.  Mass Eye and Ear is a wonderful nonprofit institution whose research and advances in medicine have laid the foundation for treating vision, hearing, balance and voice disorders as well as head and neck cancers.  Chances are, if you or someone you know has had any treatment to any of the above, it was reseached, practiced and perfected here first.  People come from around the globe for this specialized care. 

I have agreed to run for Team Eye and Ear and to fundraise for their organization.  I pledged to raise a minimum of $3,500.00 with a personal goal of $5,000.00.  I realize that this is a time that may be challenging for many of us. This is also a time when healthcare is uncertain.  If there ever is a time to give a gift of health, it is now.  There is no offering that is too small.  Every dollar goes to research and treatment.
