I would like you to meet our new buddy “Sullivan”.
Sullivan is my 80LB Lab/ Retriever rescue dog that I have recently adopted from the “A.D.O.P.T.” pet shelter in Naperville, where I volunteer my services each week. He has such a wonderful disposition, he loves people, life, long walks, tennis balls & shoes and I feel very fortunate that we found each other. Recently his personality has started to show through and "mad dog" impressions are so funny, as he just runs around the house at full speed, stopping on a dime and darting of in the opposite direction.
I have seen many dogs come through the shelter since I have been working there and I have always been impressed with how the volunteers and staff members go beyond what is expected and make each dog feel comfortable & loved in an environment that they are not used to. Our aim is the rehabilitation and placement of these pets into permanent homes and to advance humane treatment through education
It is very sad at any time to see these voiceless pets come to the shelter but at the moment we are seeing more “Give Ups”, “Rescues” & “Strays” than ever before. Therefore fund raising & donations are extremely important to us.
Next month on Sunday May 3rd, we are having a “Walkathon” in downtown Naperville to raise funds for the shelter and organization. Both “Sullivan” and I will be participating, although a 5k walk for him is like a stroll in the park,. So I promised him a trip to the bone section in Petsmart and a walk to the event from home.
I realize that there are a lot of requests for your hard earned money at the moment, but if you could see your way to pledging at least $10, you would be helping those wonderful pets we have in the shelter currently and the ones we will see in the future.
I hope you can help
Tony
