Resolution Revolution for Special Olympics Illinois
What will YOU do for the New Year? Giving back to support a tremendous organization like Special Olympics Illinois is a great way to kick-start your New Year! You can make a donation here to support the Resolution Revolution and know that your contribution will help support the nearly 1,200 Special Olympics athletes that participate in the north suburban Cook County area. Don’t forget, your employer may match gifts, so you can double your support!
Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
The program helps empower people with intellectual disabilities to realize their full potential. Special Olympics athletes enhance their physical fitness and motor skills while building self-confidence, friendships and social skills. Special Olympics athletes carry these benefits with them into their daily lives at home, in the classroom, on the job and in the community. Families who participate become stronger as they learn a greater appreciation of their athlete’s abilities. Volunteers help in every aspect of the program and derive great satisfaction from contact with the athletes and their families. Members of the community learn to recognize and value the contributions of people with intellectual disabilities.
You can help make these programs possible by making a contribution. Special Olympics Illinois is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in the state of Illinois. All funds are raised in Illinois through individual and corporate donations, foundation grants, service clubs and special events. You also can join the thousands of other volunteers who donate their time in a variety of ways. Information is available on the website at www.soill.org.
