Here at The Paskin Group, we firmly believe that a company's success is not measured solely through profits, but through it's contribution to the community as well. In the past, our employees have supported groups like the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation, Postpartum Education for Parents (PEP), the Junior League of Santa Barbara, Heal the Ocean, Casa Esperanza, and the Storyteller Children's Center. We're passionate about these causes and we're happy to contribute in support of their mission and success.
In November 2011, I'll be running the Santa Barbara International Marathon for the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation (GSF). GSF is a Santa Barbara based nonprofit focused on a disease called spinal muscular atrophy or SMA. Although not a household name, SMA is the leading genetic killer of young children and 1 in 40 people unknowingly carry the gene responsible for this cruel disease. There is currently no treatment and no cure, but there is hope.
GSFs goal is to change the future of SMA -- to see the day when SMA is no longer terminal, but treatable. They are an all volunteer organization with no administrative expenses and 100% of donor support goes towards their cause. They're fighting to raise awareness. They're fighting to advance promising research. And they're fighting to make sure those impacted have what they need to thrive. Over the past two years, they've raised nearly $1 Million and have had a material impact on this disease. But there is more work to be done and funding is a major factor in keeping the positive momentum building at every level.
I'll be joining over 30 runners from around the country to run the Santa Barbara International Marathon with Team GSF. As a company, we've set out to raise $10,000, contributing to GSF's goal of raising $26,200 in total -- a thousand dollars for every mile we run!
I hope you'll consider supporting our effort by donating to the GSF to help us reach our fundraising goal!
Thank you in advance. YOU have made a difference!
