Tracey Schumacher's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! Those of you who know me know I am a teacher at Upper Nyack Elementary School in a multiage classroom for first and second graders. What you may not know is that for the past two years, I have had the privilege of teaching a phenomenal little girl named Skylar. In a nutshell, Skylar is smart, friendly, genuine, happy and caring. She has been an exemplary first and second grader. She is playful, clever and dedicated to everything she does. Skylar is also living with Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide).
I am honored to be running this year in the New York City Marathon and even more excited to make my experience purposeful and philanthropic. I will be running to raise money for the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which provides financial support to research aimed at finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
I imagine that many thoughts will float through my mind during my 26.2 mile run, including those of my family, friends and my Upper Nyack Students. But I know that when I need a little more motivation and a little more strength, I will think of Skylar and the courage she shows each day as she lives with CF....that should get me through.
With love, friendship and extreme gratitude,
Tracey
