This is "Phase 2" of our efforts to raise funds to provide clean water to the rural poor.

 

We are a group of friends and followers of Jesus that want to challenge each other to give generously and help meet the physical and spiritual needs of peope around the world.

 

We have partnered with Living Water International because we are passionate about its vision to bring clean water to the rural poor in the name of Jesus. We also like Living Water's approach which is to train, equip, and consult nationals, ensuring that the energy and resources contributed by volunteers and donors result in sustainable, participatory water systems that meet the long-term needs of communities.  Living Water allows everyone in the community to use water from the wells regardless of faith or beliefs.

 

In Phase 1 of our fundraising efforts, we were able to raise enough funds to support TWO well rehabilitation projects in the Varanasi area in northern India. These areas had existing wells that had broken hand pumps or no hand pumps - so we were able to fund the projects to repair, replace & educate the impacted people on the use of their newly improved wells.

 

For Phase 2, we hope to fund a deep well in Africa that will serve a village or a school. We have specifically asked to fund a well that benefits children in the community. The cost of a deep well ranges from $10K-$15K. Our goal is to raise this amount by the end of 2011.
