Hello my friend,
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! My name is Tree Alexander. I have been HIV+ for 4 years. When I found out I was HIV positive I was working as a fitness trainer. Now I have committed myself to HIV/AIDS care and prevention. I currently work for Housing Works, Inc. as a Direct Observation Therapy Specialist in the Access To Care Department. I love fighting for people living with HIV/AIDS who cannot fight for themselves.
I plan to attend the International AIDS Conference in Vienna, Austria in July 2010. I need to raise $2,000.00 in order to attend and need your help. You can help me by donating directly on this page.
Everyday I think back to my high school's sex ed class and just remember hearing how to get tested and that HIV leads to AIDS. There was very little information given and they never showed us what HIV looks like. We need more education on HIV/AIDS worldwide and especially with youth and the only way to do that is ... show them a picture. Show people that HIV really does exist, it's not just something on T.V. or from the distant past. It's right in your backyard. This conference is an important step in educating and informing people living with HIV/AIDS with the latest information. Please donate today, and help me attend so that I may continue to fight for all people living affected or infected by this disease.
I am now 23 and work hard to help others understand testing and treatment options. I have no problem with telling my story or encouraging youth to get tested.
