Team Superkids is organized by the Loughran Family in honor of our fight against Jordan's leukemia. After a three year fight that included eight rounds of intense chemo, two bone marrow transplants, a bought with sepsis in the ICU, and months of isolation from germs, friends, and school, Jordan is back in action and ready to take the Lauren's Run 2K by storm. He is six but very fast - so watch out!!! We encourage support from everyone, but in particular challenge our classmates from Pace Academy (Joe, sixth grade, Khaki, fourth grade, and Jordan starting in pre-first in the fall) and the Atlanta Speech School (where Jordan is a happy Hickeydoodle) to join us in raising funds to end childhood cancer (and beat other local school teams!!!).
Lauren’s Run is on Sunday, May 2, and includes a 5k run, a 2k run, and a tot trot. The race benefits CURE Childhood Cancer, a wonderful organization that provides dedicated funding for children’s cancer research for the AFLAC Cancer Center at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, as well as patient and family support services. The AFLAC Cancer Center sees over three hundred newly diagnosed cancer kids a year and research funding is the key to attracting the best physicians and as a result providing the best treatment. We will be fielding Team Superkids to recognize not only our fight but the fight of all the incredible kids and their families who have fought this dreaded disease with bravery and determination. We know firsthand the power of research funds to change the outcomes for children and families, from the clofarabine trial at Sloan-Kettering to the next generation superdrug Sprycel Jordan continues to be on to ward off the leukemia. Forefront in our minds as we race this course will be our friends Merrill King and Sophia Langford as they run with us in spirit.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to run or donate!
Love,
The Loughrans
