Hi everyone! Thanks so much for checking out my page. As most of you know, I work for the Kent County branch of the YMCA of Greater Providence. I have worked for the Y for over 10 years and I really love it! Here at the Y we work hard to give people the chance to belong to something. Our programs and services are focused on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility- things that I really believe in.
In fact, ever since I started at the Y I have found a place that really supports my personal beliefs and life philosophy. The Y has helped me to expand my horizons through education and training. The Y has given me the chance to give back to my community. I was able to go to New Orleans right after Hurricane Katrina and spend a couple of weeks helping out at a Y there. The Y has been a place where my family is always welcome- even my crazy, unusual family! The Y has helped me to learn to listen and to be patient- something I am always working on:) I have met so many wonderful people at the Y- staff and members- who have helped to shape the person I am today. I am so grateful for everything the Y has given to me- I want to give back.
You may not know that the Y is a 501(c)(3) charity- which means that we support our community by providing financial assistance to those who need it. In fact, 100% of the money we raise each year goes directly to famiiles and individuals who need a little extra help during these tough times. Sometimes that means an older adult can participate in a water exercise class, or a school-age child can have a safe place to go after school. Maybe there is a young man who loves to play basketball but can't afford a membership. Or maybe it's helping a child learn a life skill like swimming. All of this happens at the Y- but it doesn't happen without the generosity of folks like you.
I have already made a gift to this Y- I believe so strongly in what we are doing that I want to give my hard-earned money! I am asking you to join with me and make a gift to the Y- any amount helps out. I know many are struggling right now, but if you can give just $1 a week, it would mean a lot.
Don't worry- when you donate through this site it's secure and efficient!
Thanks in advance- and please feel free to let me know if you have any questions.
Tricia
