Hello Friends and Family!!
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! On April 15, I will begin a 55 day bicycle journey that will take me 4,200 miles across the country fom Boston, MA to San Francisco, CA. I am undertaking this bike ride to raise money for Sibling Connections, Inc ( siblingconnections.com/ ) while also advocating awareness for the needs of fosterchildren nationwide.
Every year as many as 25,000 young people experiencing foster care turn 18 and “age out” of the public foster care system in this country without any enduring family relationships or community connections. Sibling Connections, Inc. vision is to create a new national paradigm that fundamentally changes the way we take care of our most vulnerable children by offering the 800,000 foster children in our country a compelling menu of engagement options and replicable community-based programs. Sibling Connections, Inc. has created programs like Sibling Sundays, which offers sisters and brothers, who don’t live together, regularly scheduled opportunities to connect in a safe environment, helping to strengthen the sibling bonds that will hopefully be the longest lasting in their lives. Sibling Connections, Inc. has also partenered up with Camp to Belong,( www.camptobelong.org/ ) an international non-profit orginization whose mission has been to reunite siblings placed in separate foster, adoptive and kinship homes for a week of fun and excitment through their summer camp programs. Sibling Connections, Inc. has created a Massachusetts chapter of Camp to Belong, and will be hosting siblings for its fifth season at Camp Taconic in the Berkshires! With your help, these programs will continue to inspire the nation and help the amazing youth in our foster care systems to establish the enduring family relationships and community connections that will help them succeed in life!
For me, this ride will symbolize a belief that anything is possible, no matter how great the obstacle seems. Spending time with the siblings I have met through Sibling Connections, Inc has showed me just how important and rewarding it is to give a piece of my life to a cause like this one.
Due to the amazing response I have received already from such wonderful people, and due to the fincancial harships Sibling Connections, Inc will face this year as a result of cuts in state funding, I believe it is more important than ever to test the strength of caring and hope. Therefore, my new goal is to raise $20,000 for the Sibling Connection, Inc dream by the end of my ride. Every $1,000 raised will provide funding for a child to participate in the summer camp and year round programs of Sibling Connections, Inc. Please help me achieve this goal by donating today, and by sharing the best part of your life with a foster child.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
