2011 Pigskin Pass
Welcome to my 2011 Pigskin Pass Donation Page.
My senior year at Delaware (2006), I had the opportunity and the privilege of creating a very special event, The Pigskin Pass benefiting Special Olympics Delaware.
The annual event is a 58 mile, 10 hour football relay between student athletes at Towson & Delaware. The event starts 7:00AM on Saturday at the 50 yard line of Delaware Stadium with the kickoff ceremony, crossing state lines into Maryland, ending at the 50 yard line of Towson's Stadium prior to kickoff on Saturday evening.
Over the years, the event has evolved to include crazy logistics with hundreds of participants covering a lot of mileage (pics attached) with state police escorts on motorcycle and marked cars leading the caravan the entire time! The money raised helps provide quality sports training and competition for Special Olympics athletes and improves the lives of people with intellectual disabilities...in turn, the lives of everyone they touch, including mine.
Today, all 23 Varsity/DI teams at the University of Delaware have a relationship with Special Olympics as a result of this Pigskin Pass. We continue to grow, work together and build this great event year after year, always remembering THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS OATH: “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.”
Thank you for your support and donation...I will be in Delaware on Saturday for the 6th annual event putting in my miles and time as the emcee of the hand-off ceremony.
