WOW, Special Olympics......I don't think that I can write enough about what the Special Olympics means to me, my family, my community, and most importantly the athletes that the Special Olympics Supports.
My love for Special Olympics and the population it serves started from a very young age. See, my mother has been teaching the Impaired Community for almost 40 years now. Growing up they became a part of my family and my mother’s passion to serve them became mine as well.
My senior year of High School I was blessed to be a head coach of the Big Rapids Special Olympics team. I have carried this accomplishment as my proudest moment for many years, and of course my mother was extremely proud of her son for this as well.
Years later when I put downs roots here in Ypsilanti I decided to get involved in Coaching Special Olympics again only to find that there was no current Special Olympics teams in Ann Arbor or Ypsilanti.
So, I started on in Ann Arbor in 2009 and one in Ypsilanti in 2010. I can tell you that the money that you donate to our program goes a long way and that without your contributions that we would not be able to serve these athletes.
Last year our Ypsilanti team won at regional’s and was able to go to the State tourney where we earned a bronze medal in their first year of competition. I can tell you that without donations that we simply would not have been able to make this happen. I also can tell you that the athletes had an experience of a lifetime and the joy they experienced was literally life changing.
Please donate, it means allot to me, and even more to my athletes.
Thank You
