Haiti- The Headlines Have Faded Yet The Needs Remain
It's hard to believe but it has been over a year and a half since a devastating 7.0 earthquake caused more than a quarter million deaths and left one million Haitians homeless.
Just two months after the earthquake, my church, Crossline Community Church, started leading teams down to Haiti to see how we could bring help and hope to a people in desperate need of both. Since then our church has made over 8 trips down to Haiti to assist in the relief effort.
Our efforts have focused on one community in particular, Croix de Bouquets, which neighbors Port au Prince. Our trips to date have focused on the rebuilding of 3 homes, completion of a clean water pump, assisting community leaders, provisioning two orphanages, running a vacation bible school, and helping to create long term job opportunities. All for the Glory of Christ. Yet, while repairs and progress have been made, the needs facing the Haitian people remain staggering.
That is why this November I am helping to lead a Men's Mission trip to Haiti. Our goal is to continue the work that has begun before us. We will help secure a sister church in Croix de Boquets (one of the focal meeting points in the community) by installing a door & windows, provide repairs on several homes, lead a local pastors conference, hold a vocational training and assistance day, expand our work with a group rescuing kids off the streets, and plan an evangelistic outreach and feeding among the most desperate and needy- all while proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I would like to ask for your partnership in this mission. You can partner in a couple of ways.
First, as our team prepares for this trip over the next couple of months I would ask for your prayers. Pray for the team's health and their families. Pray that God would allow us to handle any of the suprises and obstacles that come our way. Pray that God be glorified in all we do.
Second, I would ask you to consider financially supporting this mission. To make this trip possible I will need to raise support in total of $2200. This money will make it possible to help us resource all the efforts listed above as well as covering the cost of transportation, food and supplies.
Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I look forward to providing you with further updates in the future
God Bless,
