Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you know, my husband, Mike inherited Huntington's Disease from his mother. Not only has this horrible disease impacted our family in unimaginable ways, but thousands of other families as well.
On Sunday, May 23, 2010 I will be participating in Team Hope Walk for Huntington’s Disease in order to raise money for research and education. The walk was moved from September to May because May is HD Awareness Month.
For those who are not familiar with Huntington’s Disease, it is a hereditary, degenerative brain disorder. HD slowly diminishes the affected individual’s ability to walk, think, talk, and reason. HD is recognized as one of the more common hereditary diseases, affecting males and females and crosses all ethnic and racial boundaries. Each child of a person with HD has a 50/50 chance of inheriting the fatal gene. Everyone who carries the gene will develop the disease.
At present there is no cure for HD. Researchers are optimistic but we need your help. Please join us as we walk for a cure on May 23, 2010, 9:00 AM-12:00 PM, Montgomery County Community College 340 DeKalb Pike (Rte 202), Blue Bell, PA 19422
On May 16, we are holding a benefit dinner for Team Hope at Tully's, in Syracuse, NY. Please check out the Facebook Event Page. Hope to see you there!
We want to thank and recognize three special sponsors for their generous support and kindness: VCI Mobility in Norristown, PA, Vitro Packaging and The Pop Shoppe out of Ontario, Canada.
Donating through this website is totally secure and most efficient to support my fundraising effort. If you prefer to write a check, please make it payable to HDSA (Huntington’s Disease Society of America) and mail it to me at my address.
Many thanks to all that have donated, both on and off-line. We are blessed to have you care so much.
