Valerie Reubelt's Fundraising Page
This is Barney, our wonderful boy. He came to us through GABR 12 years ago. He was our first basset, and was responsible for getting us involved with this wonderful group of volunteers who spend tireless hours rescuing and finding homes for bassets, assisting other rescue groups, and doing therapy work with their dogs at schools and nursing homes.
Through Guardian Angel Basset Rescue, we have been fortunate to meet hundreds of sweet Bassets like Barney - dogs that have made a big difference in the lives of their new owners.
Now it's time for The Illinois Waddle. We are asking you to sponsor us with a tax deductible contribution to GABR in memory of Barney and in memory of Taylor (our nonbasset that also went to the bridge this year and was previously owned by my brother, Johnny, who passed away). Miller (our young and newly rescued basset) and Shelby (our sweet 10 year old basset) will walk the 10 blocks of the Waddle route in their honor. We will wear black armbands with Barney and Taylor's names so they will be remembered.
This year GABR has taken in dogs from people that have lost their homes, people moving into nursing homes, older people dealing with the death of a spouse - the reasons are always different but the urgency is always there. Please give what you can as any donation is greatly appreciated. If everyone that receives this gives $5.00 we can reach our goal and provide medical care for one rescued dog. (That's a cup of coffee at Starbucks!)
After all, saving one basset hound may not change the world, but it will certainly change the world for that one dog.
Thank you for taking time to read this and for helping us continue on the path that Barney started for us. He sure loved the Waddle!
