Wayne Hewlett's Fundraising Page
I have glaucoma and am running the Boston Marathon as part of Team Eye and Ear from the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in order to help raise money for optical neuropathy research. Please support me in this effort and make a donation. All donations go to HONORS (Harvard Optical Neuropathy Organization to Restore Sight). HONORs is a translational research collaboration intended to understand the mechanisms involved in optic nerve injury through basic science research in order to develop and test novel treatment strategies that will preserve and restore vision following optic nerve injury. Every dollar will be used in this research effort with the goal of developing a human treatment within 10 years.
Glaucoma is a group of diseases of the optic nerve involving loss of retinal ganglion cells due to high intraoccular pressure.
Although glaucoma can be controlled with medicine there are many other diseases that cannot be controlled. Research can help to restore sight or stop the degradation of eyesight suffering with these diseases. That is why I am asking you to please consider sponsoring my in running the Boston Marathon and raising money for optical neuropathy research.
I do hope you will help me reach my goal of $5000 by donating in the following ways:
1. Donate on-line using this webpage.
2. Mail me a check (payable to the Foundation of MEEI, Inc.) to:
2801 Alexandra Drive, #2723
Roseville, CA 95661
Let me know if you donate via option 2 (email:
me) This way I'll know it's coming.
A sincere heart felt thank you for your support.
