This fundraising campaign has been set up in memory of Lisa McPherson (Wikipedia), who Anonymous believes suffered unnecessarily (and died) because of abuse by the Church of Scientology.

The Church of Scientology likes to tout the work of its "community service" programs (e.g., Volunteer Ministers, Narconon, Criminon).  We believe that the actual benefit provided to the public by these programs is questionable, and national mental health organizations in the US have warned that Scientology does not provide credible behavioral healthcare.

Anonymous believes that organizations like Doctors Without Borders are the real authorities on alleviating human suffering.  Please join us in supporting the memory of Lisa McPherson and the work of MSF!
