Hello friends and family,

As some of you may know, I am signed up to complete my first half ironman. I am so excited! As many of you also know, I have been working in Dermatology for quite some time. I have diagnosed and treated many skin cancers including melanoma. Our practice frequently sees melanomas and many of them are late diagnosis and are sometimes fatal.  The general public is still very naive when it comes to the importance of skin screening and full body exams, especially when one has had significant sun exposure.

Melanoma truly speaks to my heart. My mom is a melanoma survivor as well as my Uncle. My genetics increase my risk of devoloping melanoma greatly. My mother and I miss those days of sunbathing and now wear sun protective clothing as much as possible. We are starting our own fashion trends that are thankfully catching on..haa!

When I found out that the race I signed up for had an outlet to raise money for melanoma research I was even more eager to sign up.  I am passionate about helping prevent melanoma and educate others. Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
