Alan and I, as you can see, are very SERIOUS bikers. Notice the high-tech getup and the furrowed brows.  Actually, Alan is worried I've roped him into something that will make him work extra hard on September 7th.  That's the day we are teaming up with Judy and Gary Lamphere and Bill White to bike in a 100 mile relay through the White Mountains.  (We are trying  to find snow tires or at least chains for our bikes for those high passes.)
Why are we subjecting ourselves to all this??? 
It's because we are raising money for SeaCare Health Services, an agency we've been volunteering with since it began 14 years ago.  It's a wonderful organization that provides needy people in our area with access to medical care that they would otherwise be unable to afford.  Some 400 medical professionals (including us) donate medical services to SeaCare clients as a way of giving back to our community.  Over the years, SeaCare providers have donated medical supplies and services worth over 12 million dollars.  That's a lot of good work.
