Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!
We are running the Los Angeles Marathon on March 21st, 2010 to honor
the memory of two people that impacted and inspired our lives – Jamen
Amato and Hal Gaba.
Jamen, the brother of our dear friend Mary, led an extremely active
lifestyle, not only playing soccer for elite club teams and at Boston
College, but also running or cycling whenever he had the opportunity.
He passed away on October 14, 2009, after fighting a courageous
two-year battle with lymphoma. His memory as a tenacious leader lives
on in the hearts of his many friends and family. His stories continue
to make us smile and motivate us to accomplish. For those less
familiar with Jamen, his obituary is available here.
Hal was the father of another close friend Lauren. He devoted his life
to producing music and film as the chairman of Concord Music Group and
co-chairman of Village Roadshow Entertainment Group. In an industry
notorious for aggressive businessmen, Hal stood out as an unassuming
man with a disarming chuckle and smile. After his own heroic fight
with a rare form of prostate cancer, he left us on March 9, 2009. We
continue to honor him to ensure his legacy lives on. For more
information, his obituary can be found here.
We are also running to raise money to support cancer research and
prevent the future losses of loved ones. Please help us realize this
goal by making a donation here to ThinkCure!, a Los Angeles based
non-profit charitable organization. It sets itself apart by
highlighting the need for collaborative research in its grant making
process. An endowment currently covers all administrative costs so
100% of all donations go directly towards cancer research (see note
below). Information on ThinkCure! is available at their website or on the panel to the left.
Note On Donations: Donations made via this website, Firstgiving, are
subject to a 7.5% transaction fee which enables Firstgiving to
securely process donations and properly vet non-profit organizations.
If you prefer, you can avoid this transaction fee by donating directly
to ThinkCure! here.
We have committed ourselves to this fight through hours of daily training, and we hope that you can help us by sponsoring our cause.
We thank you kindly for your support, and please forward this to
anyone who you think might want to donate too!
