Whit Welch's Fundraising Page
I am competing in the White Rock Half Marathon in Dallas, Texas on Decemder 13th. This is my first attempt at a distance race. In fact, it will be my first race of any kind since my 6th grade field day in 1977. The thirteen mile race is way farther then anything I have attempted, While training, it occured to me that perhaps my blood, sweat, and tears could be leveraged into something more positive.
I am asking for donations to help fight cancer. All donations to this web site will go directly to the American Cancer Society. It has been almost 10 years since my Dad died of cancer. He was a great man and a loving Father. I miss him very much. His death led to many changes in my life. I felt this was a proper way to honor him. All of us have had to deal with cancer. We are all victims one way or another.
Thank you for reading this. I hope you will take the opportunity to make a donation. Do it to help defeat this terrible disease. Do it to honor someone you love. Do it for me, an old, slow, non-athlete, who can barely drive 13 miles, let alone run it. Mostly, do it for yourself.
Happy Holidays,
Whit
