Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I have been competing in triathlons since 1998 and have gotten better and faster in each year since. For the past four years, I have competed in The Nation's Tri, an Olympic-distance tri each September in DC. Now, I have decided to ramp the distance up quite a bit!
Not just for my own fitness goals, but to help raise money for a cause in which I strongly believe, I am competing in a 70.3 Ironman in Raleigh NC (and surrounding counties) this June 2013. I have committed to raising $10,000 (changed from $5000, already achieved!) for the Melanoma Research Foundation (with Team GoToHellMel) in advance of this race. I need your help. Every bit is appreciated and important and will go toward an important research cause.
Please watch my video on the right for more information on why this cause matters. In short, I have known three amazing people -- Chris Bassetti, Robert Honeycutt, and Ted Murphy -- who in the past two years were taken early from vital, effective lives -- due to melanoma. This disease needs more research so the numbers do not grow. It affects people of all ages and all skin types. And people who are otherwise generally healthy. Melanoma could affect any of us at any time, directly or indirectly.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Since it's not just about me, I do need your help -- to keeep going 70.3 miles in one day and to contribute to melanoma research and prevention. Many thanks for your support -- I am humbled and amazed at the generosity thus far, causing me to raise the target amount! -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
(Oh, and I will be wearing sunscreen on race day!)
