To all my dear friends and family:
As you all know so well, Bowie, Sasha (RIP) and Sheena are the loves of our lives! All 3 were rescues and I can say without a doubt that had they not been rescued, they would not have lived for very long.
Lady Sasha Scratcher, Duchess of Flail was at a shelter that had her scheduled to be put down because she was a black cat and people were "superstitious" and didn't want to adopt her. She went on to live for 19 incredible years with us and we still miss her every day.
Sir Bowie Eatsalot, Duke of Sausage was abandoned in a box with his entire litter outside The Los Feliz Small Animal Hospital when they were so little their eyes were not even open yet. His Auntie Flora saved him and brought him over to me and now 13 years later he still literally believes that I am his mom. Not to sound like an overly proud mother, but he is frankly the most special cat I have ever had.
Our newest member of our family is Lady Sheena Chewington, Duchess of Fetch. She was found outside as a little kitten with a twine tangled around her leg and was brought into the hospital by a woman who asked them to put her down, because she didn't want to pay for x-rays. Thankfully the vet refused, and she was put up for adoption as soon as she was given a clean bill of health. She's celebrating her 1st year of life this month and is an awesome addition to the Drazan family. She has even brought out a tender side of Bowie that I had no idea he had in him. I think she likes him better than she likes Dale and I! =)
As you can tell from this story, I am a strong supporter of pet adoption, and all animal rescue foundations, but in particular I am fond of the Glendale Humane Society. First of all because it's my local shelter and second because they are a "no kill" shelter which means that their residents will never be put down to make room for newly homeless 4-legged friends. They are great animal activists in my community and it will be my honor to raise funds for them in this year's "Wags-n-Whiskers Walk".
I would appreciate your support and believe me, EVERY penny you can donate will count to help The GHS keep their animals safe and healthy until they find a new forever home.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure; and best of all your donation is 100% tax deductible.
Thanks in advance for your support for this great cause and feel free to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
XOXO,
Yvonne and the rest of the Drazan Family: Dale, Bowie and Sheena
(In loving memory of Sasha 1993-2011)
