Zachary's Fundraising Page
"Ridefest is an annual fundraiser at Equest where our riders and volunteers raise money to help serve children and adults with disabilities. Proceeds from the event benefit the health and well care of our special therapy horses. Riders that raise funds are invited to participate in a medieval themed trail ride where they will learn "How to Tame their Dragon". Ridefest day will include craft booths, games, food, and Medieval fun!
Equest provides therapy to over 440 riders each year. The equine assisted therapy program couples horses with treatment to offer specialized levels of therapy to children and adults with varying levels of physical and cognitive disabilities.
The relationship between the riders and Equest therapy horse is the catalyst to miracles in the lives of the special needs riders. Keeping the horses healthy, happy and properly trained and conditioned to meet the needs of the riders is absolutely necessary to be able to continue providing these miracles.
Well care for each of Equest's 33 therapy horses is more than $5,000 per year. The therapy horses are the most important asset to the organization and the cost of care far exceeds the amount charged to the riders.
