My name is Zach Wells and thank you for visiting my fundraising page! My sister (Morgan) and I will be training over the next couple of months to run in the Philadelphia Marathon as members of Team Samaritan’s Purse. We are running to raise support and awareness for Memorial Christian Hospital’s Renewal Project. The project is designed to improve the hospitals facilities in order to better serve the medical needs of the Bengali people.
PROJECT SCOPE & SUMMARY
-100-bed medical center (50,000 sq. ft.) with +80% of the old facility being preserved for administrative and non-clinical functions
-10-bed ICU, 6-room OR suite, ER and trauma services
-Improved outpatient clinic space – roughly tripled to enable care for more than 300 outpatients daily; greatly expanded capability to support satellite clinics
Bangladesh is the most densely populated country in the world with more than 150 million people in an area about the size of Iowa. The hospital is the major surgical resource for 10 million people with approximately 1,800 surgical cases performed each year. Annually the hospitals outpatient department serves 30,000-35,000 patients (roughly 50-200 patients/day). The hospital also provides a full immunization program, prenatal care, public health teaching, and a community health program. There are immense physical, social and spiritual needs in this country and Memorial Christian Hospital is dedicated to serving the people of Bangladesh.
