My personal message:
Friends, Romans, countrymen!  Lend me your ears!

I have done something really stupid, and I need your help.  I was coerced into signing up to run the Music City Marathon (actually I weaseled my way down to 1/2 marathon) at the end of the month of April.
The good news is I have been training - sort of - for about a month now, and can now almost run 3 miles without passing out.  The bad news is I have to gather up a minimum of $1000 for Caring for Carcinoid Foundation (CFCF), and I have not been doing so hot on that front.
Cancer is an unfortunate reality which affects nearly everyone to some extent.  Medical progress has been made, but so far - besides supposedly Chuck Norris' tears - no sure-fire cure is in sight.
A good friend of mine's sister died a little over a year ago of carcinoid cancer.  She is the one who decided to get a team together in honor of her sister and try to raise money for what I am sure all agree is a good cause - finding a cure.
Below is a brief description of what it is CFCF does, as well as a link to their website if you would like any additional information.  Below that is a message from firstgiving.com assuring you that this website is secure, and your money will not vanish into some digital abyss.  Thank you for taking the time to check out my page, and I assure you that I will be immensely grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small.  See ya at the finish line.

What is the Caring for Carcinoid Foundation (CFCF)?

The Caring for Carcinoid Foundation is an organization committed to finding a cure for carcinoid cancer.   So far, the organization has rewarded over $2 million in research grants.  Also, 100% of donations go towards carcinoid research!  That means that you can be assured that every penny you raise during the marathon will go towards research, NOT to the organization's overhead expenses.
