The Magic Bullet Fund,
a program of the Perseus Foundation
When our English Bulldog, Georgia, was diagnosed with multicentric lymphoma in 2005, at only 4 years old, we were devastated. We had no idea how common canine cancer was, or how many treatment options existed. While we first thought the diagnosis was an immediate death sentence, we soon came to learn that there was hope.
With a combination of chemotherapy and holistic therapies, Georgia lived 13 happy, active months past her diagnosis. Not nearly long enough, but we were grateful for each day. Given that her original vet gave us only 4-6 weeks, it was a blessing to have an extra year with our little girl. And, contrary to what I would have originally expected, Georgia's quality of life while undergoing chemo was very high.
My husband and I were very fortunate in that we could afford the treatments that Georgia needed. It was still a huge financial burden, but we were able to manage it and spend that extra time with our sweet Georgia. The pet insurance we had the foresight to invest in also helped cover some of the expense. For many though, they cannot afford the cost of treatments, and as a result, they are forced to watch their beloved companions die sooner than they should have to.
No pet owner should have to make this terrible choice -- between saving their best friend and keeping their household financially afloat. That's why The Magic Bullet Fund is such an important ally in the fight against cancer. Providing financial assistance to pet owners who cannot afford lifesaving treatments for their dogs, The Magic Bullet Fund has helped to save, or prolong, so many lives. The Magic Bullet Fund is a program of the Perseus Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to fighting canine cancer.
Please help Georgia's Legacy in it's effort to raise at least $4000 for the Magic Bullet Fund -- $1000 for each year that our sweet Georgia lived before her diagnosis. Whether you can donate $10 or $100, your gift means so much in the fight against cancer. And, donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure.
