Dear Friends and Family, Well, it's time for the Autism 5k again and I'm happy to say, another year of progress and blessings. Anthony, our 7 year-old who has a diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome, had a GREAT year at Skano. He had minimal support this year in second grade, made some great friends and had so much fun playing for Clifton Park Baseball League this year with all typical peers! Autsin, who is now 5, was diagnosed at 18 months old with Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. Austin had his first FULL year in a typical Pre K program and THRIVED. Because of the help of Saratoga County, New Meadow, Helping Hands , Shenendehowa and all of the special teachers and therapists that worked wtih him, Austin was completely de-classified last year and is getting ready for regular Kindegarten. He is amazing. Though Anthony suffers daily from anxiety, OCD and other characteristics of Asperger's Syndrome, he is managing very well with the help of the amazing team at Skano, his doctors and therapists. He absolutely loves to read and write and can tell you about any make/model of ANY car out there. Life has been great for all of us this year and I thank everyone who has donated in the past. Your generous donations have helped my family and other families dealing with Autism to get the support they need. If it wasn't for all of you, we would never be where we are today. I have been the top fundraiser for the past few years at the Annual Autism 5k/walk and i am hoping to ROCK that status again this year. I know money is tight for everyone, so anything you can do would be great. This year I am also looking for some corporate sponsors to match what i am able to raise. My pipe dream is to raise $10,000 one of these years and I KNOW i can do it. Every year i get a little bit closer. If anyone works for or knows of a corporation willing to match, please let me know! Thank you all for taking the time to read this. On behalf of my husband Matt and our kids, I would like to wish you all a safe, fun, healthy summer. God bless!
Love, Melissa
