As most of you know, Janie and I lost our little sister Julie on July 9th, 1993 to a horrific disease called Aids, she was 22 years old. Since Julie was not in the so called "high risk group" at that time, she was not tested nor diagnosed until Aids had already ravaged her entire body. Julie fought such a hard battle to just wake up every day and deal with the pain, yet she never complained. All the while her husband and two small boys watched her determination to beat this thing called Aids until they could'nt watch no more. Different types of cancer covered her body, she went blind, weighed maybe 60 pounds, and would scream in pain if you tried to just hug her. This disease does not discriminate...anyone can get it. If you would for just a moment try to picture this scene in your mind; Julie layed helplessly in a hospital bed in my mother's living room, at this time she was unresponsive, yet a couple of days before she passed away she would open her blind eyes and would stare for hours towards the corner of moms living room. She would whisper towards this corner and we would watch her as she laughed and pointed at this same corner of the living room. Janie and I would get goose bumps because we actually felt a presence there in that corner. We knew what was happening, Julie's "Angel" had arrived to guide her thru her journey to be with our heavenly father! There were so many days that we all prayed, God please take her now and let her pain be over, but then Janie and I would say over and over, God please don't take her! In our minds we knew it was over, but in our hearts we still had that hope that Julie would get that miracle we all prayed for so hard. That miracle was not to come yet there was a purpose for what we all lived thru...it's called the power of faith, family, and survival. I pray no one that reads this will face such heart ache for themselves or someone they love like our family did. Our mama died unexpectantly December 31, 1997 and is now able to wrap her arms around her baby girl and hold Julie without her in pain............We strongly believe in the work and support that the Tarrant County Aids Outreach Center is doing to help families going thru this crisis today and would so greatly appreciate your support either by joining our walking team or by a donation in Julie's name. If you would like to be on our team "Julie: Our Angel in Heaven" please contact myself or Janie to get more information. Thank you!
