This page is created for my little sister Marie. She is now 17 years old and is in need of a special surgery. Let me tell you about her. Marie is my adopted sister; she came to us when she was very small. Till now she’s been working hard in school, up keeping with her grades, since she wants to be a neonatal nurse. Marie looks like a normal girl, but she has a deformed jaw, which makes it challenging for her to chew. Among that situation, Marie’s nasal passages are obstructed in a way, in which she has trouble breathing through her nose, which is a problem because she is an asthmatic. Due to Marie’s inability of breathing through her nose, she breathes through her mouth. This is hard for her to do when she eats. She is currently being seen by Dr. Eisig in New York Presbyterian Hospital who specializes in craniofacial surgeries.
Since Marie has sleep apnea (a temporary absence of breathing) they are planning a risky nasal surgery to hopefully fix the nasal obstruction and help her breathe. Marie also needs a procedure done to correct her jaw. Braces alone are priced at $6,000. That does not include treatment and surgical expenses (which can total up to 35,000 or more). At this very trying time we are unable to pay for the surgery, and insurance is willing to only pay 25%. But we are asking people to open their hearts and help us raise the money to help pay for Marie’s surgery. Any little bit helps. Don’t you want to give Marie a chance to smile bigger, brighter and knowing that people helped her, out of the good of their hearts?
