Description: The Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) is the second oldest rape crisis center in the United States and the largest in Massachusetts. We provide free, confidential services to survivors of rape and sexual assault, their family and friends, regardless of sex, race, physical/developmental disabilities, income, ethnicity, class, age religion, or sexual orientation.
Mission: Founded in 1973, BARCC is a community-based, grassroots organization with a mission to provide free crisis counseling and advocacy services designed to empower, support, and educate survivors of rape and sexual assault, their families and friends, and the professionals who work with them. We are deelply committed to provide community education that strives to reduce the tolerance of sexual violence in our community, and to increase understanding of the issues facing survivors.

| My personal message: |
|
While I myself have no direct experience with sexual assault, far too many of the people I love have. Including at least five of my close friends right here in the Boston area.
BARCC helps tons of people thoughout the Greater Boston area recieve the services they need in a safe, understanding, welcoming place. It is the only provider of comprehensive rape crisis services in the greater Boston area.
Services include a 24-hour hotline, 24-hour ER accompaniment, counseling, legal assistance and community awareness and prevention programs. In the last year alone, BARCC helped over 4,000 survivors and another 10,000 people through prevention education, training and outreach.
I would greatly appreciate any kind of help you can give, whether it be a donation to me or another walker, or a decision to attend the walk yourself. Every little bit counts.
