Doctors Without Borders Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international independent medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural and man-made disasters, and exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries. | My personal message: |
Welcome to GoldPlaceNYC.com fundraising page for Doctors Without Borders.
Let me share with you the story of why I decided to champion this cause by raising funds to help Doctors Without Borders to provide health and nutritional services to people in need.
I watched 60 Minutes on Sunday, June 22nd 2008 and there was a segment "Miracle Food (Plumpynut) Saves Lives which is a cheap, nutritious food that is saving starving children in the developing world. Anderson Cooper reported on why this product is effective and how it could save even more lives if Doctor Without Borders could make it readily available to children that need it . It costs $1 per serving per child per day. I felt compelled to help and felt that others may feel compelled to do the same. Please watch the 60 Minutes segment here.
About Doctors Without Borders
On any one day, more than 27,000 committed individuals representing dozens of nationalities can be found providing assistance to people caught in crises around the world. They are doctors, nurses, logistics experts, administrators, epidemiologists, laboratory technicians, mental health professionals, and others who work together in accordance with Doctors without Borders's guiding principles of humanitarian action and medical ethics.
Today, Doctors Without Borders provides aid in nearly 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, negligence, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, exclusion from health care, or natural disasters. Doctors Without Borders provides independent, impartial assistance to those most in need. Doctors without Borders reject the idea that poor countries deserve third-rate medical care and strive to provide high-quality care to patients.
Today, you can make an immediate difference to change many lives for the better with a donation that will provide health and nutritional services for children that would not normally have these services.
I hope we can count on you to help. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support-- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
With grateful appreciation, Sherley Duncan Gold Place Network LLC
