Join Betsy King and Debbie Quesada as they Hike Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa to raise money to make a difference in Rwanda. Our goal is to raise $100,000 to help build a medical clinic in Rwanda. Many of you know that we have spent the last 2 years dedicating ourselves to helping children and women that have been infected and affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic. In 2008 we committed to raise funds to build a medical clinic in Southern Rwanda with World Vision that would improve healthcare for all community members in Uwinkingi Sector. For years the people of Uwinkingi sector have walked at least 11 km to the nearest health center and 20 km to the nearest hospital. The health profile of this area is particularly appalling according to the DHS 2005. Diseases like malnutrition, malaria and HIV are mainly responsible for this. Some of the results of poor accessibility to healthcare are increased mortality from infant killer diseases, poor attendance of ANC by pregnant mothers and delay in health seeking leading to a greater number of complicated cases of treatable diseases in the community.

At times it seems hard but nothing compared to the struggle that the women and children in Rwanda go through each day just to survive.
