Greater Plainfield Habitat for Humanity (GPHFH) invites people from all faiths and walks of life to work together in partnership, building houses with families in need. GPHFH, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, is committed to improving the lives of low-income families in the Greater Plainfield area by helping them build and buy their own simple, decent homes. Habitat offers families a hand up, not a hand out. Every partner family devotes at least 250 hours of sweat equity to help build their home or another home and secures a 0% mortgage provided by Habitat. Habitat supports partner families with training in budgeting, home and landscape maintenance, and how to be a good neighbor. 32 homes since 1989 have been built by GPHFH, all built 100% by volunteers.
