My personal message:
To all our friends, family, fellow musicians, and online acquaintances:
Thanks so much to those of you who have contributed thus far. We all know of the South Asia tragedy by now--and it continues to worsen. However, stories of miracles abound throughout as well, even in the midst of such a catastrophic natural disaster. Along with other philanthropic organizations, World Vision is working around the clock to help bring relief to survivors. Partnering with churches and community leaders they are rushing emergency food and Family Survival Kits directly to suffering children and families. The needs are tremendous. All of our help is needed ASAP! PLEASE check out the 1-10-05 World Vision update below.
We started out well with this fund, so we "upped the ante" so to speak. Please help Jen and I push this amount in coming weeks and months to $2500 or more!
HERE'S THE DEAL: For every one of my "Pilgrim Song" CDs purchased from www.graceworksmusic.com, a $10 donation will be made by us to World Vision toward this fund. OR, if you contribute via this page $15.00 or more, email us your address and we will arrange to send you a FREE "Pilgrim Song" CD from Graceworks Music. If you donate $100.00 or more, we will send you 5 "pilgrim Song" CDs (they make great gifts), but you have to email us your address, as we do not receive personal info from World Vision. If you donate $500...well, you get the idea--we obviously would owe you lots of CDs! Email us at info@graceworksmusic.com for your free CD(s) upon contributing. 1-10-2005 update--Below is an update on World Vision's relief efforts to date: Indonesia: World Vision is establishing 20 children's centers in Indonesia with special tents where traumatized children can receive physical and psychological support. Meanwhile, relief supplies-tarpaulins, sarongs, kitchen utensils, buckets, and other necessities-are heading toward the devastated province of Aceh in two cargo ships supplied by World Vision. India: World Vision has provided immediate relief for more than 3,000 families with plans to reach an additional 35,000 in Chennai and the coastal villages of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh districts. Through coordinated efforts with teams of doctors and local churches, World Vision is offering vital aid and distributing relief goods including medicine, food, water, blankets, and clothing. Sri Lanka: World Vision is working with the army to build temporary toilets and distribute lanterns, soap and saucepans to some 930 people displaced in the Trincomalee region. At another camp in Sella Nagal, World Vision provided the displaced with noodles, dry fish, sleeping mats, antiseptic powder and packets of detergent. Medical officers from around the country are attending to those in refugee centers. Expectant mothers are receiving special care with supplements and vitamins. Thailand: World Vision Thailand provided 570 sets of building materials to construct temporary housing for Thai and Burmese migrant workers who are without homes. World Vision is also starting the construction of three school buildings with six classrooms in each building. The construction crews will also build 36 water tanks along with latrines. Myanmar: While World Vision continues distributing blankets, cooking oil and food, staff in Myanmar are also starting to focus on Phase II of their relief efforts, with plans for rehabilitation efforts to help families rebuild homes and find new sources of income. Any donation will help to save lives. For example: - $30 will provide things like food for a child for a month - $100 will provide things like a Family Survival Kit for one family - $500 -- well, that would be of incredible help to many families. Thank you so much for your help, whether on this website or elsewhere! May God's love and mercy go forth even through such feeble efforts as these. Ken and Jennifer Totushek
