Special Olympics Colorado (SOCO) strives to change lives by promoting understanding, acceptance and inclusion between people with and without intellectual disabilities. Through year-round sports training and athletic competition and other related programming for over 8,500 children and adults with intellectual disabilities across Colorado, SOCO has created a model community that celebrates people’s diverse gifts. Special Olympics Colorado provides athletes with continuing opportunities to realize their potential, develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy and friendship. There is no cost to the athletes to participate in Special Olympics.

The Guardian of the Flame Hockey Tournament is becoming one of the most popular hockey tournaments among adult teams in Law Enforcement. Last year’s inaugural tournament was successful in raising $10,000 but fell short of our $15,000 goal. The money raised for the Guardian of the Flame Hockey Tournament will be combined with that raised by the Law Enforcement Torch Run® totaling over $135,000 for Special Olympics Colorado. This directly benefits the more than 8,500 Special Olympics Colorado athletes who participate throughout the state.
