Our mission is to eliminate poverty housing in the Greater Portland area. Habitat for Humanity is a people to-people partnership, drawing prospective Habitat families and communities together with volunteers and resources to build simple, decent, affordable housing for families whose income is above public housing assistance guidelines but who are unable to qualify for conventional mortgages. Habitat is committed to the development and uplifting of families and communities, not just to the construction of houses. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland believes that all people are entitled to live in simple, decent housing. As a non-profit, Christian based organization, Habitat has worked in partnership with all God’s people in need in order to build 57 homes in the Portland area over the past 27 years. We then sell them at no profit, and provide no-interest monthly mortgages.
