Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity was organized in 1989 to “strengthen communities by empowering low-income families to change their lives and lives of future generation through homeownership opportunities.” This is accomplished by working in partnership with diverse people, from all walks of life, to build simple, decent, affordable housing for working families. For the last 21 years, Hartford Habitat has exemplified excellence in the field of affordable housing, partnering with 100,000+ volunteers and more than 180 families in building homes for over 600 children, mothers, fathers and grandparents throughout the greater Hartford community.
