The organization creates a sense of hope and community so no one facing pancreatic cancer has to do so alone.

We (see picture, Kaelyn in front, then left to right, Joey, Jennifer, Marianna, Sue, Harvey, Tina) participated in the PanCAN (Pancreatic Cancer Action Network) 2-mile walk this morning (Saturday, August 23, 2008) in loving memory of Uncle Charles. This "Movin' and Groovin' for PanCAN" event was held at Dorey Park in Richmond, VA. If you would still like to sponsor us with a contribution to PanCAN we would appreciate it greatly.
For those that have not heard, my uncle, Charles W. Gabler passed away August 12, 2008 after a 10+ month battle with Pancreatic Cancer.
Uncle Charles was a former Hampton, VA resident that served in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired from the Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co (now known as Northrop Grumman NNS) after 36 years of service in their piping design department.
I usually greeted Uncle Charles with "Hi, Pops" because of the way he & Aunt Ann (my mother's sister) opened up their home to me when I entered the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School in 1976. Pops provided the application package that got that "ball rolling".
Pops always greeted me with a big smile and a bigger sense of humor through his traditional "Pardon the hand growth" handshake. As he extended his hand of welcome, just before our hands joined together he would quickly curl his pointer finger in toward his palm and say "Pardon the hand growth".
We want to thank you in advance for your contribution that will help find a cure for this devastating disease.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
