My personal message:

Please read Noble's story below. With the amazing support and kindness of animal lovers everywhere, Noble is scheduled for surgery on Thurs, July 30th. You can read updates here or on our website. Thank you all for your incredible compassion!

I am leaving this fundraising page up and any other donations will be used to help Buffy, a feral cat in a Round Rock colony who also has an injured eye. She will need to be trapped and brought in for evaluation and treatment.  We will have more about her soon. Sadly, there are always cats in need of medical treatment.

Here is Noble's story......and thank you again for making this happen for him!

Noble has had some tough breaks so far in his short life.  Scared, fearful and living in an abandoned and condemned house in Taylor, this brave cat eked out a spartan life on bugs and whatever else he could manage to catch.  His emaciated condition on capture testified to the many days and nights he went hungry.   But while Noble may have been afraid and cautious he was neither feral nor ordinary.  After he was trapped and neutered, we discovered that while he was jumpy or could be easily startled, he was actually quite calm and sweet once he had you in his line of vision.  He was only fearful of what he could not see.

However,  despite being rescued, Noble has a bigger problem.…he was born with no eyelids.  He can still see, but he squints much of the time- the lights hurt his eyes and one eye is becoming cloudy.  He requires artificial tears put into his eyes frequently to prevent them from drying out and matter from building up and causing him pain and discomfort.  He will go blind in the not too distant future without surgery. It’s possible to create eyelids using tissue from another part of his body – a proven technique with a high rate of success but, as you can imagine, an expensive surgery.

In the rescue community every cat is special…..but it’s not often that we have a chance to save a cat from going blind.  We’ll never know whether Noble was abandoned or just got lost, but he loves people and plays energetically but gently.  He seems to know how lucky he is - cats like this often turn out to be incredibly loyal.  He’s very affectionate, and loves to be scratched and have his belly rubbed.  In his foster home he gets along great with the other cats, young and old.  Noble is also available for adoption.

Shadow Cats has been helping cats for over ten years.  Noble is now under our care but the only way we can continue to help the cats that so desperately need us is with your help.  Can you help save Noble’s eyesight?  Can you help give him that one lucky break that will make all the difference in the world to him?

Thank you to all those that care about the cats in the Shadows- You make it all possible!

And thank you for your support and using our fundraising page for Noble and Shadow Cats Rescue. Donating through the First giving website is fast, easy and secure and is the easiest way to help Noble.  Your donation is tax deductible.
