Please Help Rescue Animals from the Pet Trade!
A pet store in Virginia is shutting down, and some local activists are trying very hard to get these animals out of the pet trade and into responsible, knowledgable homes or sanctuaries.
Can you help by donating money or fostering/adopting an animal? Time is of the essence – please help if you possibly can!
Following are the details from the lead rescuer:
There has not been any offer to help buy the remaining reptiles at the pet store. Tomorrow, all will have to be cleared out and moved out of the public eye. I have not been back in contact since I removed the parrots; who are all doing well here in our home.
The turtle, finches, several parakeets and possibly the tree frogs who are gently gaining entry into the heart of their foster mom all have homes. And of course the parrots are going to Oasis.
The last offer I had from the owner was to sell all of the remaining reptiles for $550.
1 tame 8 foot albino burmese female python, 1 tame blue tongue skink,4 tame ball pythons ( 2 males, 1 female, 1 unsexed), 1 four foot dumeril male boa, 2 six foot columbian boas, 1 two and a half foot columbian boa, 1 four and a half foot female boa, 3 bearded dragons (2 male and 1 female). There is a 13 foot albino boa for $350 as well if we’re able to raise it. (My goal is to raise $1,000 to help the rats, as well.)
Pledge any amount. Pledge a home for any of the snakes, skink, or dragons. (And help save the rats---my personal challenge. These rats have been kept in tiny cages in a dark room for their entire lives – they will be placed as pets only).
If we can't get any of this, then it is time to move on and hope for the best for these poor creatures - who although may not be cute and cuddly, do deserve a decent life too.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
