Thompson Island Outward Bound programs meet the needs of Boston's youth - many of whom come from communities that are plagued by violence, gangs, drugs, and low expectations. Our programs are unique because they engage students in challenging and unfamiliar physical experiences to teach perseverance, initiative, self-direction, courage, responsibility, collaboration, curiosity, and critical thinking. Teaching these skills and cultivating these traits in young people and adults will ultimately lead to a transformed society where social and environmental responsibility and compassion are valued and embodied in our schools, companies, and communities.
Hey everyone,
Thanks for visiting my 2007 Boston Marathon & Thompson Island Outward Bound fund raising page. Over the next 5 months, I will be training for the 2007 Boston Marathon. As this is a great opportunity to spend time raising donations, I have chosen to run for a very important charity. The Thompson Island Outward Bound program is a locally based (Boston, MA) charity that focuses on community and character development for young children. The program provides children of all socio-economic backgrounds the chance to participate in a week long challenging course that focuses on leadership, self awareness, and personal responsibility. No gift is too small and will be deductible this tax season. Donations of all sizes are welcomed with open arms and will unquestionably benefit the life of a young child. If you have any questions about the program or you would like to arrange donations in another fashion, please feel free to contact me at hicksonj@gmail.com.
Tom Niles Challenge
Tom Niles, a Thompson Island Outward Bound Advisor and a former avid runner, has offered a $15,000 matching grant to support our Marathon Team's fundraising efforts and the important programs offered on Thompson Island. Donate today and help us accomplish this challenge.
Thank you for your support,
