About Me

I am an executive of the Dance Marathon Board of 2009 at Niles North. As executives, we are organized into committees and we meet every Wednesday after school. I am on the Finance committee, which deals with all of the money raised for Dance Marathon throughout the year. The other committees include Alumni, Community Outreach, Corporate Relations, Dancer Registration, Entertainment, Food, Morale, Public Relations, and Website.

What is Dance Marathon?

Dance Marathon is an annual event at Niles Township where a different charity is chosen each year. The dancers then spend all year raising money for the charity. In 2008, the district raised $70,000 for the charity Partners in Health. Last year, the district raised $82,000 for Camp One Step at a Time. Dance Marathon has raised over $250,000 since it has been started six years ago.

The actual event is held during May. It alternates between the two high schools and it a huge celebration of everybody's efforts to raise both money and awareness in the past year. During the seven-hour night, people can dance, play DDR or other video games, and have a fun night with their friends. Many students and teachers come for this event and it is a big celebration for everybody who took the time and effort to raise money and awareness for the charity.
