I give my time and money to WaterFire as both a volunteer on the river and a board member because I believe in its magic to creatively transform our community. 

Where else can you experience a gorgeous fire arts installation, all mixed with a Salsa festival, live jazz, opera, and performance artists--that also includes ceremonies celebrating the entire community, such as honoring those who rescue victims of violence on the streets, or recognizing Latino teenagers for their achievement and scholarships, or celebrating breast cancer survivors, or observing the complicated history of the slave trade in RI.

At WaterFire, everyone is welcome and everyone is equal.

For all of my business-minded friends (and my brother DJ & brother-in-law Steve), here are a few fun facts that will certainly impress:

• WaterFire attracts over 1 million visitors annually, making it the top tourist and cultural attraction in Rhode Island;
• WaterFire's economic impact on Rhode Island is over $40 million annually;
• WaterFire has sparked economic growth by giving business owners, hotels, restaurants, retail stores, condos, etc. a reason to develop and thrive;
• WaterFire is free and family-friendly! (Children and even dogs LOVE it!) ;
