Please join us Sunday, October 5th (kick-off ceremony starts at 11:30 a.m. at Marie Irwin Park in Homewood) for the Walk of Hope - a community event that brings together families, friends, neighbors and co-workers who want to raise money and awareness for the Center's FREE, professionally-designed programs for anyone affected by cancer. The Jennifer S. Fallick Cancer Support Center in Homewood, Ill. was formed in 1994 when two newly widowed, young mothers were looking for support for their families after the passing of their husbands. What began as a dinner table discussion has turned into a pillar resource for people in more than 70 Chicago southland and Northwest Indiana communities. The Center provides services free of charge to a diverse participant base including cancer patients, caregivers, children, teens and friends of the cancer patient. Having seen their ideas grow to fruition, several of the original “seed planters” still serve in day-to-day roles at the Cancer Support Center
In addition to support groups, individual and family counseling sessions and the Center’s comprehensive Resource Center, wellness programs are offered on a weekly basis. Participants enjoy yoga, qi gong, meditation, relaxation, massage therapy, Reiki and healing touch. On average, 250 people per week use the free services.
We would love to get as many Horton employees involved as possible!! If you sign up by Friday, 9/19, you will receive a complimentary t-shirt. You can contact Tracy Dengler at tracy.dengler@thehortongroup.com or 708-845-3341 with any questions/comments.
