Dear Friends,
Thank you all for helping me make it across the finish line - May 24th, 2009 - Burlington, Vermont, 4 hours / 31 minutes.
Together we've almost $1200 to help rebuild schools in Sudan.
I am enormously thankful, a bit sore, and energized thinking about the impact your help will have on the students and teachers in Marial Bai, Sudan.
Thanks!
Howard
For those of you new to this effort, please read below
I am running to support the Valentino Achak Deng Foundation. Over the last few years, Dave Eggers' novelized autobiography of Valentino Achak Deng What is the What has made visible the personal struggles of the survivors of war in Sudan. What is the What has been universally praised for its insight, narrative and message.
As I run, I often think about other places and people. During one of my long runs, it occurred to me that my efforts could have a direct impact on the students and families rebuilding their lives in Marial Bai, Sudan, documented and supported by the Valentino Achak Deng Foundation.
Any amount will make a difference:
- $14 buys one bag of cement
- $50 buys two large iron sheets for roofing
- $125 buys one thousand bricks
- $200 buys a window in the Marial Bai library
- $300 buys bricks for a classroom wall
- $1,000 buys bricks for an entire classroom
