Even though it is the Dog Days of Summer it is not too early to begin preparing your Pack or Team or Yourself for the 2010 Walk for the Animals. You can walk as an individual, as an Adult Pack, Kids Pups Pack with your school, or as a Family Package. Since 1936 the Humane Society of Greater Miami has served the pets and people of Miami-Dade County. The Humane Society of Greater Miami is a not-for-profit, 501 (c) 3 organization and does not receive any general funding from local, state or federal government agencies or national humane organizations. It relies completely on private donations, grants and fundraising events like the Walk for the Animals. Your fundraising efforts for the Walk directly help us care for the more than 250 animals at our Soffer and Fine Adoption Center; continue to operate our low cost and free spay/neuter and preventative health clinics; and offer important programs to our community like humane education lessons to both children and adults and providing pet therapy to senior citizens and rehabilitation centers. We are a limited-admit adoption guarantee facility where dogs and cats are safe from euthanasia. The more we adopt the more animals we can help shelter.
