Starting from the premise "Everyone a Learner, Everyone a Teacher, Everyone a Leader" the Grassroots Leadership College increases the effectiveness of community organizations by providing low cost short and long term training in community organizing. Our trainings are specifically directed to non-paid grassroots activists. Since our inception in 2003, we have served over 400 community members through our General Semester, Intensive Workshop Series, and el Programa de Liderazgo Comunitario. Our participants have coordinated and continue to lead over 50 different community projects including; starting neighborhood associations, community gardens, getting a grocery store for the North Side of Madison, a support group for African American Parents with children in the school system, a Hispanic cultural house, and much more
