Thank you for visiting my CAP Walk fundraising page
There are over 120,000 legally freed youth in the foster care system, that are waiting to be adopted. Most of them are over the age of 10.
Many times, youth that have "aged out" have no resources or a steady person in their lives. They sleep on couches and skip meals. If they are able to claw their way from the clutches of the system, they have few people they can call to share exciting news about a job promotion or a marriage proposal.
Every one of them deserves a place at a dinner table.
Children Awaiting Parents believes that every child is adoptable and we work diligently to advocate for both children and families. We work in a very small office that watches every penny to be sure that it's being used to help the kids. All of my co-workers (all seven of them!) are passionate people who believe in our mission.
Of all youth aging out of the foster care system, national statistics indicate:
- 56% are unemployed and face poverty within two to four years
- They represent 70% of all homeless youth,
- They constitute 88% of incarcerated youth and young adults,
- 40% receive welfare within two to four years,
- 40% do not graduate from high school, and
- 60% of teenage girls will have a baby within two years.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
